"Under Neat That"

From the Grammar Group:

We had a "going away" party yesterday for a lady at our Little Rock claim office. One of the supervisors called a Wal-Mart and ordered the cake.

He told them to write:
"Best Wishes Suzanne" and underneath that write "We will miss you."

Great stuff, I've seen this doing the rounds (maybe in a flickr group) but I wasn't aware of the story behind it. Now it all makes hilarious sense.

It's great that your group is now the first port of call for some people when they see these things.

My blog,
GrammarBlog, was mentioned on the wall of your group (not by me; I'm not that shameless a self-promoter) and we had 87 visits from it in one day.

On re-reading this comment, I'm thinking maybe I am a shameless self-promoter. Anyway, congratulations on the NY Times interview and keep up the good work.

This is great. Reminds me of the scene in Animal House where one of the Delta house leaders reads the initiation statement--"I, state your name, . . ." But it's even funnier in print and misspelled.

I live in Little Rock. I'm not the least bit surprised. But it's still funny as hell!
