Isn't this the same phenomenon as we find with The Toronto Maple Leafs and so on...? I thought that's just the way they did it because it's not correct to use the plural form of the word when referring to a team instead of a group of individual bison or leaves. Am I making sense at all?
The Toronto Maple Leafs has ALWAYS aggravated me...it's leaVES!!!
I never understood it, and I don't think I ever will. It's a herd of bison, so why isn't it a team of Bison?? Ugh.
Anyhow, happy holidays!
Harding University made the same mistake, and for this reason, I feel I can't wear shirts from the school. Bisons? Really?
Oh well. My high school's little catchphrase is "Securing Their Future". I'm not sure if this means that only one of us will go on to have a future, or that our future is a collective and the same for all of us. I feel as if someone in upper-level management should have caught this before painting it on the building and putting it on a billboard.
