First, the good stuff. Alabama played our rivals Auburn tonight at home, and at halftime, Nick Saban was there to accept the Iron Bowl trophy. At halftime, they made Auburn's class president sing the Alabama fight song from beginning to end. Then the announcer came on and said, "In case you need a refresher, Alabama beat Auburn 36 to ..." and never gave Auburn's score. That was kinda funny.
But, despite being ahead for most of the game, we lost it in the end. And the main thing that lost it for us was FREE THROWS. I'd be surprised if we hit 30% of our free throws. That's something that is easy to fix, and we lost to our rivals because of it.
There's always next year, right?
Here's a picture of Nick Saban accepting the Iron Bowl trophy.

The SEC is down this year. Good chance that you people won't see an SEC team emerge past the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament this season.
It took a middle-of-the-road Pac 10 coach, Trent Johnson, to teach you guys how to really play ball and instantly become the best basketball coach in the SEC.

You're right about SEC basketball this year. We'll be doing well to even get 4ish teams into the tournament, much less to/past the Sweet 16.
Want to talk football? Virtually all other sports? I'll even give you an opening advantage...USC in the last few years has been as good as anyone in the SEC in football, and Stanford is usually among the top contenders for the NCAA All-Sports trophy.

It must be nice to have that trophy back after six years. Don't worry, Nick "Living God" Saban has at least made things competitive again in the rivalry. Auburn has a nasty tendency to thrive on underdog status (see, e.g., 2004 football season)...enjoy it until Auburn takes that trophy back in a year or two. I'm looking forward to this being an actual back-and-forth rivalry again :)
I can't believe the Tide let the filthy Aubs come back and win. Filthy.
The SEC looked terrible this year in the NCAA Tournament.
Only 3 teams selected, and 2 of them lost in the 1st round. The other -- SEC champion LSU -- lost by double digits in the 2nd round.
Awful. Just awful.
The Big East, Big 12, Pac 10, and ACC were all way better than the SEC. Again.
4 teams from the Big East in the Elite 8 and 2 of them in the Final Four. Sheesh.
LSU, the regular season SEC champions, would probably have finished in the bottom half of the 16-team Big East this year. Seriously.
