My Valentine's Day this year was the exception. I'm with the "Valentine's Day is a holiday made up by Hallmark to sell cards and little teddy bears (for WAAAYY too much money)" camp, and all I expect from the day is maybe one rose. This year, we went out to eat at a new place in Tuscaloosa. The food was great and at the end of the meal, I got two roses. My expectations were exceeded, so it was a wonderful Valentine's Day.
How was yours?

It isn't Valentine's Day, it is Singles' Awareness Day! :D Seriously though, I don't have any expectations for that day, so they are never exceeded or met. Or underachieved. All I ever do is sit in my room and stare at my computer screen avoiding all the couples and pink balloons. :)
Glad to hear you had what sounds like a nice day with your boyfriend! I hate Valentine's. I'm in the its a Hallmark conspiracy camp with you, and I think it jinxes my relationships, I've always been in a fight or broken up wtih the person I was dating on the big V-day. Which sucks because the last thing you want then is a reminder.
Y'all are such cynics, Valentines is a nice thought, and a good way to appreciate someone you love.
I'm glad he came through and didn't just let lunch with the grandparents be the "big" romantic gift! I love your blog! I can't wait for your book to come out. (btw, I'm the rose giver's aunt). Glad you had a great Valentine's Day!
Ouch, lunch with the grandparents? Glad your expectations weren't set too high.
